Job Description
This is a great opportunity to get involved
in a truly Editorial Project, and to make a difference in the Latin
American Culture and Arts in Canada. We seek bilingual interns
(Spanish-English) to work with our culturally and academically Latin
American Magazine in the following areas:
Editor
Reporting to the Editor- in- Chief, the Editor Intern position is an
opportunity for the candidate to apply their proficiency and knowledge,
gain understanding of Cañasanta activities and the role of an editor,
and take part in Cañasanta’s new ongoing projects.
Responsibilities include:
• Responsible for Cañasanta’s respective publications
• Evaluate issues raised by reviewers
• Select high quality stories that appeal to the readers
• Write decision letters (accept, reject, etc.)
• Govern manuscript flow and decision-making
• Provides reports to the Editor-in-Chief as required
Contract Dates: February through July, 2008
Intern will be expected to work 3 days per week.
Requirements
• Bilingual English/Spanish (read, write, speak)
• Comprehensive knowledge of all arts
• Must live in the Toronto Area (or able to travel on short notice)
• Effective organizational and communications skills
• Capable to work as a team member
• Ability to multi-task with high attention to detail and consistent high level performance
• Experience in similar position, an asset
PR/Marketing
Reporting to the Executive Director and Director (as needed) , the
PR/Marketing Intern position is an opportunity for the candidate to
apply their proficiency and knowledge, gain understanding of Cañasanta
activities and the role of PR/Marketing, and take part in Cañasanta’s
new ongoing projects.
Responsibilities include:
• Creating collateral brochures, multimedia
presentations, product sheets, etc
• Sales functions
• Represents Canasanta at various art & cultural events
• Organizes meetings and events
Requirements
• Bilingual English/Spanish (read, write, speak)
• Comprehensive knowledge of all arts
• Must live in the Toronto Area (or able to travel at short notice)
• Excellent organizational and communications skills
• Capable to work as a team member
• Ability to multi-task with high attention to detail
and consistent high level performance
• Flexible hours & ability to travel within the GTA
• Experience in similar position, an asset
Translation
Reporting to the Editor, the Translation Intern position is an
opportunity for the candidate to apply their proficiency and knowledge,
gain understanding of Cañasanta activities and the role of Translating,
take part in Cañasanta’s new ongoing projects and receive accreditation
for her work.
Responsibilities include:
• Translating work from Spanish to English
Requirements
Minimum requirements:
• Bilingual English/Spanish (English is your mother
tongue)
• Some knowledge of the arts
• Excellent writing skills
• Capable to work as a team member
• Flexible hours
